TCU Hall of Fame linebacker, defensive analyst, former assistant coach, and four year National Football League veteran, Jason Phillips, believes Alabama and Georgia are cheating. In the first tweet below, Phillips accuses Nick Saban and Alabama of using places like church to pay players to avoid leaving a money trail.
In the next tweet, Phillips is trying to guess the signing bonus that Georgia paid their star running backs in 2014 (Sony Michel, Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb). All three players were early NFL draft picks.
SEC programs paying players may not come as a complete shock. Remember Ole Miss and Laremy Tunsil?
In 2013, Ole Miss signed a surprising top 10 recruiting class. A lot of rumors spread that Ole Miss was cheating. Then head Coach, Hugh Freeze, fired back on his Twitter account, “If you have facts about a violation, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. If not, please do not slander these young men or insult their family.” Three years later, one of those 5-star recruits, Laremy Tunsil admitted on ESPN that Ole Miss had paid him. It was documented on a text message.
