The Football Writers Association of America just named TCU defensive end, Ben Banogu, to the preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. This trophy is presented to the nations top defensive player.
The senior, from McKinney, Texas, became a college football star last season. He earned first team All-Big 12 and the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year for his phenomenal play and terrorizing of offensive backfields. His 8.5 sacks were good for second in the conference; while his 16.5 tackles for loss, ranked third in the conference. Banogu is fun to watch.
Check out this hustle. Can you say game changer?
Banogu was widely believed to have been a first round NFL draft pick in April. He was ranked as the third best defensive end, by ESPN’s draft guru, Mel Kiper Jr. Banogu ended up postponing his NFL career for one more year in Fort Worth. It is hard to believe this guy was a lightly recruited two star player in the class of 2014. Go Frogs!
